Lider Mit Palestine Concert

A concert to support the Free Gaza Circus and honor the release of the album לידער מיט פּאַלעסטינע Lider Mit Palestine: New Yiddish Songs of Grief, Fury, and Love.

LOCATION CHANGE TO JALOPY THEATER IN BROOKLYN

In the face of the ongoing genocidal assault on the Palestinian people, “LIDER MIT PALESTINE: New Yiddish Songs of Grief, Fury, and Love” is a collection of 17 original songs steeped in history and heritage and committed to a liberatory future. Songs that tremble with heartache and shake with anger, songs that overflow with life, from a group of artists who refuse to accept a status quo of oppression and erasure, and who refuse silence.

Brivele will be playing with Noam Lerman of Der Tkhines Proyekt.

Yiddish New York: Lecture

Brivele at Yiddish New York

Lecture: “From the Well & the Swamp: Tracing the Lineages of Anti-Fascist Poetry & Song”

YNY SCHEDULE HERE

Through a stirring blend of storytelling and music, Brivele presents an intimate lecture-performance exploring the Yiddish archives of anti-fascist poetry and song. This presentation highlights the transformation of two songs from the 1930s, "Di Moorsoldaten" and "Di Krenetse." The diasporas of these songs, traveling over borders and into different languages, helps us trace so many intersecting lineages from German anti-fascist and labor history to the internationalist struggle against Franco, to the conveniently forgotten intimacy between Immigrant radicalism, Communist avant-garde artists, folkies, Yiddishists, and Black liberation politics on Turtle Island. Initially researched for Maia Brown’s 2024 artist residency at Town Hall Seattle, these stories continue to evolve as research findings reveal new connections.
